Here I go again!?!

I have been reminded by several friends that I swore my last bicycling adventure would be my last. In fact, I think we are supposed to get older and wiser (?) as time goes on. But despite the fact that I will doubtless be the slowest and creakiest rider, I am heading off again tomorrow to ride from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory to Helena, Montana. When we rode this route in 2019, I was the oldest woman in the group. šŸ¤” Seems likely that may be the case once again!

Whitehorse, YT to Helena, Montana

I’m traveling again with TDA Global Cycling and doing a portion of the North American Epic, a 5 month long journey. This is part of the same route that Jim and I rode in 2019. It was so beautiful! It also has the advantage of being close to home since Jim is not able to join me this time.

These bike tours have become an addiction of sorts, as evidenced by my rider numbers from past rides:

My wall of rider numbers!

I can’t say that I have trained very well for this journey. We had grandchildren and friends staying with us (lovely 🄰) followed by exceedingly hot weather. So hopefully the first days won’t be too brutal as I struggle to keep up with the riders who have already been on the road for several weeks. Our tour leader Brittany was also the tour leader in Australia and New Zealand and she did a great job. I am looking forward to traveling with her again.

My duffle bags, packed and ready to go.

Packing took a ridiculous amount of time. You would think I would have it down by now. Our dogs sniffed every piece I packed and seem to know what’s up.

ā€œCan we go?ā€

Fortunately Jim will hold down the fort and the dogs will keep him busy.

Hopefully the blog site doesn’t fail to work as it did in Australia and I will be able to share this journey with you all. As always, thanks for your interest and support. See you down the road šŸ¤žšŸ‘‹

  1. Glad to hear you are still doing these bike journeys! Sounds like a beautiful ride, Steve and I traveled what is likely part of that route soon after he retired. I am still biking, but not on epic journeys. Have fun!
