This post is particularly for my grandkids, Gideon, Lily and Lydia and our neighborhood kids, Robbie, Sidney and Nolan, but hopefully will be of interest to everyone. I love seeing the animals along the way. As I mentioned before we are riding through farmland and along a large river, the second largest in South America. Consequently, we have primarily seen farm animals, birds, as well as a giant lizard and a giant rodent.

Besides the cows, horses are very important here and one frequently sees gauchos, the Argentinian cowboy. They are masterful horsemen. They usually wear a beret and ride their horses anywhere including city streets.

It is said that the gauchos out herding the cattle can sleep sitting astride their horse all night. Horses are tethered everywhere that there is some grass to eat: along roadsides, in parks, in people’s yards. Since it is spring here, we have seen many colts including one that was still wobbly.

It’s difficult to catch photos of the birds but I have seen many that I don’t recognize.

There are flocks of green parakeets, also known as Monk parrots I think, throughout the countryside. They are building nests right now and they can be huge.

There are also very unique nests on many power poles made by red ovens birds

I hope to continue to spot animals along the way.

Loved the country side tour &everyday photos!

I’m pleased that you have grandchildren that prompted you to come up with this theme!

Those are some great pictures! Really unique bird nests. You must have a good zoom on your camera or have been pretty close to some of those critters.
