It’s been a while since I have written a post, mainly because I have had problems getting my last effort to publish. I still don’t think it has uploaded but decided to write another in hopes that I get the problem resolved. It’s challenging to talk with the site developers with such an enormous time differential. But before I forget everything that has happened I’m going to write and cross my fingers 🤞.
(I am actually sending this from home. Never managed to get it sent from the road)
We’ve been making our way along the Australian coast staying in lovely little towns along the way.

Mainly we have had chilly weather but with much appreciated tailwinds. There was one stressful day of cold rain on a narrow road with many large trucks 😳 and no shoulder but thankfully that was the exception.
One of my favorite aspects of the ride has been the opportunity to talk to many locals. I think it is a particular benefit of traveling on a bicycle that there are many opportunities to chat with folks along the way. Many people are very interested in what we are doing. They frequently love to talk about their home country and ask about where I live and why I am here. The minute I open my mouth it’s clear that I am not Australian! I have been quite homesick for Jim and our puppies so really appreciate the welcoming attitudes of the people I meet.
We just finished riding much of the Great Ocean Road. Such fabulous scenery!!

We’ve also been riding through lush farm country with many baby farm animals since it is early spring here.

There continue to be interesting and unusual local animals along the way as well.

Today we left the mainland for Tasmania or Tassie as the locals say. Getting there requires an 11 hr ferry ride and we have been fortunate to have calm seas ( especially since I get quite seasick).

My next missive will be from Tasmania. I am really looking forward to this part of the trip. I have to admit that traveling here has never been on my radar and the more I learn about it, the more I look forward to the experience.
As always thanks for joining me ( whenever I manage to get this sent off. Also, I want to acknowledge that many of these photos are from fellow riders, especially Helen and Bob)
Hugs!
